Artist comment: This portrait of Branford Marsalis was taken from my photograph of his 2012 Jazz Conversation, part of the PDX Jazz outreach program. Devin Phillips, another saxophonist from New Orleans now living in Portland, interviewed him. Marsalis, the eldest brother of New Orleans’ royal family of Jazz, & Joey Calderazzo closed out the 2012 PDX Jazz Festival at the Newmark Theater.
